Vedic Village, Kodungallur

Vedic Village Resort, a boutique resort with 16 rooms is located in the famed Muziris area steeped with history. Muziris (erstwhile known as Muchiripattanam) in Kodungalloor, was an ancient harbor and port city of the Cheras from as old as 4th century AD. Muziris was key to trade relations between South India and Persia, Middle East, North Africa, Greece and Rome to name a few.

A devastating flood in Periyar in 1341 changed the course of the river and Muziris port was completely destroyed. However, since 2007, the archaeological excavations from Pattanam town have revealed several remnants of the civilization including coins, semi precious stones, terracotta and metal artefacts etc.

The Tourism Department of Government of Kerala has initiated a Muziris Heritage Tourism Circuit to reinstate the historical and cultural significance of Muziris.

Vedic Village taking inspiration from the cultural and historical context of the Muziris, has a cosycrafted ambience with breathtaking view of the river. The spaces celebrate the passive design comfort of Kerala’s vernacular architecture and the richness of its artisanal skills – be it the wooden crafted walls, doors and roofs, the screw pine weaves, the terracotta and stone artefacts, the Theyyam wall arts, the recycled wooden crafted elements etc.

Since its opening in early 2025, the project has won several accolades including the Economic Times award for Best Interior Design – Hotels 2024; The Best Boutique Retreat in Kerala from Hospitality India Group 2024; among top 3 in Hospitality Sector, National Awards, Indian Institute of Architects.
