Sterling, Wayanad

Designed and built for Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited, Sterling Wayand is situated near Sultan Bathery at Wayanad,  just 15 km away from Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary.

With 61 well-appointed rooms, a spacious Convention Hall and all related amenities, the property is spread over 8 acres of undulating terrain adjoining the forest.

Working with some existing random cottages and facilities, Inspiration’s task was to bring in world class amenities for Sterling’s discerning members from all over the country and abroad.

The challenge was to bring in a contemporary ambience while being sensitive to the local history, culture, climate, materials, flora and fauna.  Each room is inspired by the three legacy trees of the region - bamboo, neem, and peepal; the public spaces are bright and cheerful, blending the quirky elements of local crafts with modern materials.

Almost all rooms face the large rain water harvesting lake and the gardens around.  With a uniquely designed rain water harvesting system combining the lake and a recharging system for ground water and recycling of treated waste water, the resort aspires to be self sufficient in its water needs.
