Avenue One

While cities are being planned for more buildings, cars, roads and other infrastructure, we are rapidly losing green spaces and open areas. Added to our war on climate change and environmental degradation, the pandemic has made it evident that our cities have become inhospitable living spaces as this lack of green and openness has contributed to mental stress, fatigue and eventually forms of depression. We saw people in large scale moving back to the countryside as work from home is more stressful in the concrete jungle. Re-imagining our approach to planning and designing spaces in cities have become more important than ever.

Cities in the south of India with its tropical climate offers an opportunity to integrate dense vegetation and biodiversity into its spatial arrangements. Avenue One takes this opportunity to explore the potential of a biophilic retreat that integrates green living without compromising the comforts of modern living.
